The Turkish Grand Prix will be held with fans and ticket prices will be the cheapest in the world, the CEO of the company that operates the circuit announced today (September 1).
The organizers plan to host about 100,000 fans, which is half of the track's capacity, Vural Ak told a press conference, Motorsport.com's Turkish edition reported.
Widely acclaimed as one of the best Formula 1 circuits in the world, İstanbul Park was confirmed in F1's 2020 calendar last week.
While fans were not allowed in the first seven races of this season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the races in Italy's Mugello and Russia's Sochi in this month are planned to be held with a limited number of fans.
The Turkish GP will take place on November 13, 14 and 15.
"However, we must be prepared for everything. If the disease becomes worse than today, then the race can be run without spectators. There is also such a possibility," Ak said. "However, we know the capacity of this track. 220,000 spectators can watch the race in the grandstands and open areas. Right now, if we close some of them due to safety reasons, about 100,000 spectators will be able to watch the race, following the social distance rules."
Ak also announced that the price of general admission tickets will be 30 lira (3.4 Euro) for one day and 90 lira (10.2 Euro) for three days. Tickets will be put up for sale next week, he added.
This will make İstanbul the cheapest GP in the world as the average price of three-day general admission tickets is about 136 Euro, according to f1destinations.com.
Grandstand and VIP tickets will be "a bit more expensive," Ak noted. (VK)
