Turkey’s Humor Magazines: Je Suis Charlie

Humor magazines Leman, Penguen and Uykusuz released their new issues with a joint cover, saying “Je Suis Charlie”. 

The joint statement read as follows: 

“This week, Leman, Penguen and Uykusuz were released with the same cover. We wanted to commemorate our friends who were killed in Charlie Hebdo attacks and share our grief. We hope that this solidarity will at least be a consolation. 

We condemn the terrorism that stood on the way of caricaturists with guns. We wish for a world where freedom of expression isn’t suppressed, media workers are not assaulted and peace rules throughout.” 

Gırgır was released with only black cover.  (AS/BM)
