Turkey Now Has 4 LGBTI-Friendly Municipalities
4 mayor candidates who have previously signed the LBGTI-friendly Municipality Protocol have unofficially won the elections.
Aimed to remind municipalities of their responsibilities, the aforementioned protocol prepared by SPoD (Social Policies, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Studies Association) was signed by 40 mayor candidates across Turkey.
The list of winning mayor candidates who signed the LBGTI-friendly protocol are as follows:
* BDP Mersin Akdeniz District Co-Mayor Yüksel Mutlu
* CHP İstanbul Kadıköy District Mayor Aykurt Nuhoğlu
* CHP İstanbul Beşiktaş District Mayor Murat Hazinedar
* CHP İstanbul Şişli District Mayor Hayri İnönü. (ÇT/BM)
