Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu has organized a press meeting due to the security measures taken in the constitutional amendment referendum to be held on April 16.
Soylu said that 17,674 personnel were assigned for the protection of transformers.
About the electricity cuts that occurred in March 30, 2014 local elections, then Minister of Energy Taner Yıldız had said, “I am not joking, a cat entered the transformer”.
Soylu expressed that all precautions were taken for the ballot security.
In order to ensure security, a total of 380,223 personnel consisting of 251,788 security personnel and 128,445 gendarmerie personnel was assigned.
“6,000 soldiers were assigned in case of need”
“Furthermore, 51,148 security rangers and 18,675 voluntary security rangers in 26 cities were assigned for the referendum.
“In addition to these, 6,000 Land Forces Command personnel are planned as reinforcement in case of need”. (EKN/TK)
