7th President and Chief of Military Staff of 1980 Military Coup, Kenan Evren died on May 9, 2015. Twitter users tweeted hundreds of tweets over coup d’etat.
17-year-old Turkish student Erdal Eren who was hanged as a terrorist by the military regime on Dec. 13, in 1980, and Berfo Kırbayır who lost his son in the period of military coup and couldn’t find him and died in 2013 were commemorated and twitter users shared their feelings over Kenan Evren, died at the age of 98, with hashtag #KötüBilirdik.

State ceremony
On June 18, 2014 Kenan Evren was sentenced to life imprisonment with the charge of “crimes against the state” with the verdict of Ankara 10th High Penal Court. His case is still in Supreme Court and there isn’t any legal obstacle to the state ceremony.
According to the news of daily newspapers, government authorities will visit Evren’s family for burial procedures. Evren will be buried in the state cemetery unless indicated otherwise by his family. National funeral which will be held in Ankara, will be participated by Presidential Guard Regiment Funeral Battalion and Military Band and the coffin will be carried on gun carriage. (AS/BD)
