Teachers Protested Discharges Released

Discharged as per statutory decree and arrested after staging protest in Bakırköy, teacher Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat have been released.

Speaking to bianet, Tanrıverdi said that they were kept in custody for 16 days and thanked those who have supported them.

Tanrıverdi and Polat coming closer to Bakırköy Square, where they were staging their protest to be reinstated to their jobs, was banned by court decision.

Upon that, the teachers wanted to make a statement for the press and were detained on August 13, 2018, and were released by court with an international travel ban.

The two teachers were arrested on August 21 and were released from Bakırköy Prison where they were kept last night at 9 p.m. (AS/TK)
