Doğukan Çep, who was being searched in the scope of the investigation on the killing of Sinan Ateş, the ex-president of Grey Wolves, an ultranationalist group affiliated with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and an academician in the Hacettepe University was detained in İstanbul.
Çep who was detained by the Ankara police teams for murder in Beykoz, İstanbul had two guns with him when found. He will be taken from İstanbul to Ankara.
The number of people detained in the scope of the investigation run by the Ankara Chief Prosecutors Office has reached 10.
Fugitive in Hasan Ferit Gedik murder case
Doğukan Çep, known as "Dodo" stood trial in the case of the murder of Hasan Ferit Gedik in Gülsuyu, Maltepe, İstanbul was released in 2015.
The prosecutor had requested that Çep should be charged with the willful murder of Gedik while Yalçın İleri, Abdullah Kıyak, and Gökhan Aktaş with attempted murder.
The court ruled on October 19, 2021, that Çep should be convicted of the crime and issued a warrant for his arrest and he was being searched since then.
Special Operation Policemen among detainees
There are two special operation policemen among the suspects, Murat Can Ç. and Aşkın Mert G., reported Alican Uludağ in DW Turkish who have been detained and are being charged with bringing the gunman killing Ateş from İstanbul to Ankara in a transporter vehicle.
Mustafa U. who is the owner of the transporter vehicle bringing the gunman from İstanbul to Ankara was also detained.
