Public opinion survey company Konda has released a report on how the views of life and the lifestyles of the young people aged between 15 and 29 have changed in the last 10 years.
Konda made a survey on the topic in 2008, interviewing 2250 young people above the age of 15. The report released on Saturday (March 16) has been prepared with interviews with 1715 young people above the age of 15.
Rate of "religious conservatives" decrease
The rate of those who define themselves as "religious conservative" has decreased to 15 percent from 28 percent.
Workers decrease, students increase
While the rate of young people who work as workers or farmers has decreased, the rate of those civil servants and private sector employees has increased.
The rate of students among those aged between 15 and 29 has increased to 41 percent from 22 percent. Percentage of the students who do not work has decreased to 13 from 25.
Fifty-percent decrease in following the news
Under the title "Following the news," the report states that the rate of those who read newspapers has decreased from 72 percent to 22 percent.
Authoritarianism decrease
Under the title "authoritarianism," the report says that the rate of those who say "Political parties should be shut down when necessary," has decreased from 54 percent to 40 percent and "The soldiers should take over the administration when necessary," has been decreased from 51 percent to 22 percent.
Respect for diversity increase
In the survey, the participants were asked questions about sexual orientation, religion, sect and ethnic origins. While it has been observed that respect for diversity has increased in every area, the slightest increase was in sexual orientation.
The rate of those who say "My son/daughter can have different sexual orientations," has increased from 12 percent to 21 percent.
Happiness decrease
In the last ten years, the percentage of those who say "I am happy," has decreased from 57 to 51.
Rate of those who pray decrease
According to the report, the rate of those who say, "I regularly fast (in Ramadan)" has decreased to 58 percent from 78 percent and the rate of those who say, "I pray regularly," has decreased from 27 percent to 24 percent. (TP/VK
