State of Emergency (OHAL) has been extended for three more months.
The motion was published on the Official Gazette on April 18.
The OHAL has been extended for the third time
The OHAL was declared with 346 MPs voting yes and 115 voting no in the parliamentary voting on July 21, 2016 following July 15 coup attempt.
The OHAL ended on October 19 was extended for three more months.
The OHAL ended on January 19 was extended for the second time.
The OHAL ended on April 19 is now extended for the third time with this decision.
OHAL in the Constitution
Third Chapter of the Constitution regulates the OHAL governance. Article 119 in this chapter states the OHAL is implemented under circumstances of “Natural disaster and heavy economic crisis”.
Article 120 regulates the OHAL declared in circumstances of “serious implications of widespread acts of violence or disruption of public order due to acts of violence”. (BK/TK)
