Prime Ministerial Memorandum as to extending of State of Emergency (OHAL) has been approved at Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.
In the ballot organized on July 21 following July 15 coup attempt, the OHAL was approved with 346 aye votes against 115 nay votes.
The OHAL decision was renewed and extended on October 19.
Ending on January 19, the OHAL was extended second time. It will end on April 19 in case it is not extended again.
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Spokesperson Ayhan Bilgen said that the extension decision was taken in line with an advisory jurisdiction date January 3 by National Security Council (MGK) but no statement was issued as to a MGK meeting being held on January 3.
Vice Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş said extending of the OHAL didn’t come up at Council of Ministers meeting, however, it was stated in the OHAL memorandum submitted to Assembly General Council that the decision was taken at the Council of Ministers, Bilgen added. (NV/TK)
