Statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was expressed that the EU delegation found the works about visa liberalization positive.
Stating that the delegation requested additional information about the technical details of the working plan that Turkey presented about the visa liberalization dialogue, the statement read, “We’ve come to a consensus with the commission to continue the technical works”.
Speaking to Hilal Köylü from Deutsche Welle, the EU officials said that the only way to see the results of the works conducted on technical level in practice is “the political and legal initiative to be brought by Turkey”.
The EU officials also underscored the problems caused by the implementation of the State of Emergency which has been in effect since July 15, 2016.
Anti-Terror Law condition
The European Union (EU) Unofficial Meeting of Foreign Affairs was held in Bulgaria’s capital city of Sofia on February and visa liberalization for Turkey was addressed.
Making amendments in Anti-Terror Law was laid down as a condition for the visa liberalization. In the past, revoking this law was put as criteria. (AS/TK)
