Soccer Fan Group Awarded for Empathy
A Turkish mental health counseling organization gave its annual award to Çarşı Soccer Fan Group after several supporters threw out their team scarves onto the soccer pitch to be in support the earthquake victims in the Siberia-cold eastern province Van.

"We are giving out our empathy award to Çarşı Soccer Fan Group because their collective act encouraged everyone to improve empathy skills and increase quality of social relations," Turkish Organization of Mental Health Counselors said.
In late 2011, with throwing their team scarves onto the soccer pitch and shouting "people are freezing in Van", several members of Çarşı showed their solidarity with people affected by 2011 October Van earthquake.
"Çarşı once more proved that they are not just a soccer group," the statement said, emphasizing on Çarşı's previous reactions towards other socially sensitive issues in Turkey. (GB/HK)
