A group of activists arrived outside Sivas Madımak Hotel for the 35 intellectuals who were burnt after a mob arson plot in 1993.
After individuals gathered outside a cemevi in Alibaba Avenue in the morning, they marched towards the Madımak Hotel by the appeal of Pir Sultan Abdal Culture Association (PSAKD)
Approximately 2,000 police officers were ordered to deploy around the Science and Culture Center, a building that replaced the Madımak Hotel.
Many family members carried pictures of massacred intellectuals. "Fire shamed, explorer of fire shamed but who was they light the fire or give a command didn't shame!", "We want to justice from Maraş to Sivas, from Roboski to Gezi, from Soma to Şırnak and Lice" and "Madımak must be a museum" banners were carried because they wanted to reconstruct the hotel instead of the center.
There were different political parties, representatives from the civic society associations, presidential candidate HDP co-chairperson Selahattin Demirtaş, HDP co-chairperson Figen Yüksekdağ, HDP deputies, 9 deputies of CHP and Roboski families.
