In their 705th week, the police forcibly prevented the Saturday Mothers/People, who gathered in the Human Rights Association (İDG) building in Beyoğlu, from entering the Galatasaray Square on Saturday (September 29). The Saturday Mothers were stopped by the police while they were leaving the building to walk towards the square.
After police officers stated that there is a ruling of ban, preventing them from making a statement, the Saturday Mothers answered that there is no such ruling and added that the Beyoğlu district governor Savaş Ünlü, who is said to have imposed the ban in question, has been appointed to another post.
In the statement, which was read out in front of the İHD building despite the prevention of the police, the ban on their gatherings was protested. The police attempted to drown the voice of the statement of the press by making an announcement. (HK/SD)
