Turkey’s High Council for Radio and Television (RTÜK) issued 115,000 lira fine on Fox TV due to the the quote “We will proceed to dessert after dinner” on Turkish version of “Desperate Housewives”, saying that it was a reminiscent of sex.
According to Gazeteport, the following quotes appeared on the episode released on September 19.
“Characters Gülşah and Kudret decide to have a baby. Gülşah approaches to Kudret in attractive clothes and tells him that they are going to eat dinner first and they will proceed to dessert.
“Hearing that they will proceed to the dessert, Kudret wanders his hands around his torso and indicates that he got the message. (...) Kudret tells Gülşah that they can make a baby right away if kids are not yet home. While Gülşah and Kudret giggle under the blanket, their daughter Alara comes into the room. (...) ‘Can I watch it, too?’ asks Alara.”
RTÜK members found the aforementioned quotes inappropriate for the “physical, mental and moral development of children and adolescents”, issued 115,000 lira fine on the following opinion: ''The untimely exposition of information during the sexual education of children or the inclusion of inappropriate details to children’s level might create complications”.
