"It is unfortunate that these mosaics are not exhibited," said Gursel.
"Findings should be preserved and exhibited"
At a meeting in Gaziantep, Gursel said that the pieces excavated at the Antique City of Zeugma should be preserved and exhibited. This would contribute to Gaziantep's and the region's tourism, according to Gursel.
The antique city of Zeugma, located near the Belkis village on the Euphrates at a distance of 10 kilometers to Nizip District, in the southern province of Gaziantep, is undergoing a comprehensive excavation-rescue work.
Gursel, who stated that they have made some observations in the province of Diyarbakir before Gaziantep, said, "We were very pleased to see that the Ministry of Culture and the municipalities have completed many projects to preserve the historic Walls of Diyarbakir."
"The Mosaics could be exhibited for the tourists"
Gursel toured the Antique City of Zeugma and the Castle of Antep. These are Gursel's views:
* There is a continuing interest for these findings. The findings excavated at Zeugma should be temporarily exhibited for the tourists.
* Anatolia is very rich in terms of cultural assets. We need to spend serious effort in order to lead these assets to future generations.(EO/BB/EA/NM)
