Peace Block has deemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s words about Syrian President Bashar al Assad government as an assault.
What had Erdoğan said?
In his speech at Jerusalem Symposium on November 29, as to Operation Euphrates Shield, Erdoğan referring to Assad said, “We entered there [Syria] to put an end to governing of Assad who exercises state terrorism”.
Two days after the speech, following Russia’s messages condemning the speech, Erdoğan had told at a “village chiefs meeting” the operation doesn’t target any individual or a country.
Bloc: Living in peace is a right
In their statement, Peace Bloc Co-Spokespeople Ayşe Erzan and Bahadır Altan President’s declarations that embrace actions that are considered a crime by international law and withdrawn two days later are not just an example of frivolity but also constitute a huge threat for the country.
Remarking that “intervention of a country in another sovereign country’s internal affairs is an international crime”, the bloc underlined that “Living in peace is not an abstract desire but a right defined in international treaties”. (NV/TK)
