İstanbul Taksim Police Station deputy commissioner N.K. who allegedly raped P.A in custody twice is arrested and a lawsuit is filed against him with a sentence of up to 18 months of imprisonment. P.A was taken into custody following an ID card control at a nightclub.
According to Vatan daily report, Istanbul Security Directorate police teams made an ID control in front of a nightclub on March 11 and a woman called Özlem A. told she didn't have her ID card. Police officials asked her to come to police station where they found her in possession of a fake ID. P.A. explained to police that because her passport had been stolen she had bought a fake identity card for 500TL.
Raped twice
Thereupon she was taken to Taksim Police Station Headquarter in the morning. She spoke to the deputy chief of police, N.K., in his office. After some time, N.K. began to grope the woman. The woman resisted him and said "I don't want you to do this. I want to go now." The deputy police chief reportedly told her to relax and asked her to have sex with him. Even though the woman refused him, N.K. allegedly repeatedly requested a sexual intercourse. At that time the deputy police chief left the office and P.A. immediately went to the ladies' restroom. When N.K. learned that the young woman was at the ladies' restroom, he went there and raped her. Then the deputy police chief asked the woman return to his office. When the woman entered the office, he said "We didn't have sexual intercourse here, so let's do it here" and he raped her again.
Camera records examined
"As N.K was deputy police chief, I thought no one would believe in me so I could say nothing" said P.A.
"N.K told me 'Make yourself home here. I am going up to bed' after he raped me twice and left the room"
Then P.A. went to detention room and told the incident to one of her friends who then persuaded her to file a criminal complaint against the deputy chief of police. The police officials launched an investigation. The police also found 10 condoms during a search of N.K.'s car. Examining the camera records, the police found that N.K. followed P.A. into the ladies' restroom. The records also showed that P.A. and N.K. went into N.K.'s office after leaving the restroom.
A lawsuit is filed against N.K. with a sentence of up to 18 months of imprisonment. N.K. is will be tried at İstanbul high criminal court in the coming days. (IC)
