The Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), has released its Index of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita expressed in Purchasing Power Standards estimated for 2017.
Of 37 countries, 28 of which are the members of the EU, Turkey has ranked the 29th in terms of Purchasing Power Standards.
Turkey, which has been given 65 points in GDP per capita, has ranked better than eight countries, all of which are in the Balkans: Romania (63), Croatia (61), Bulgaria (49) Montenegro (46), Serbia (37), Macedonia (37), Albania (29) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (32).
Luxembourg has ranked the first on the list with 253 points. The other best nine countries listed on the Index are as follows: Ireland (184), Switzerland (158), Norway (150), Iceland (130), Austria (128), the Netherlands (128), Denmark (125), Germany (123) and Sweden (122).
While England, France, Italy and Spain have ranked worse than the above countries with 105, 104, 96 and 92 points respectively, the EU average has been measured as 100 points and the Eurozone average as 106 points. (ŞA/SD)
