Germany’s new President Frank Walter Steinmeier has addressed Turkey in his first speech he delivered at Federal Germany Assembly following him being elected.
Calling for “the release of journalist Deniz Yücel”, Steinmeier condemned Erdoğan’s Nazi comparison.
Referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, “End the unspeakable Nazi comparisons, do not cut the ties to those people who want partnership with Turkey”, said Steinmeier and urged Erdoğan to “respect the rule of law and the freedom of media and journalists”.
“The way we look [at Turkey] is characterized by worry, that everything that has been built up over years and decades is collapsing”. (ÇT/TK)
