President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has made a statement about bomb attack in Sultanahmet, the historical peninsula in the European side of İstanbul, that “A terror attack considered to be launched by a suicide bomber of Syrian origin”.

Erdoğan said the following as to the explosion which has left 10 people dead, 15 others wounded:
“I wish to express that I condemn regretfully the terror incident taking place in Sultanahmet and considered to be launched by a suicide bomber of Syrian origin. We have unfortunately 10 dead in this terror act.
“I wish god’s compassion on those who lost their lives in the explosion. I wish healing for the wounded that we have as many as 15.
“This incident has once again shown us that we have to band together against terror and terror organizations as a nation”.
Reuters citing authorities from Turkey speaking on condition of anonymity reported that “perpetrators of the bomb attack were most likely ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) members”. (AS/TK)
