Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said according to initial findings, 36 people have lost their lives and that “the evidence point DAEŞ (ISIS) organization”.

Vice Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson, Numan Kurtulmuş, Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, Minister of Interior Efkan Ala, Minister of Transportation Maritime Affairs and Communication, Ahmet Arslan, İstanbul Governor Vasip Şahin did inspections at scene following the offensive taking place in Atatürk Airport International Terminal.
Yıldırım spoke as follows regarding the attack:
So far the death toll is 36 plus three suicide bombers. We have wounded people. Most of the wounded are not in a critical condition but there are also a few with severe injuries. Our security forces’ examinations point that it was DAEŞ who launched the attack.
It has become very clear one more time that terror is a global threat. This attack is a contemptible terror act targeting civilians.
The airport was opened to flight and landing by 2:20 a.m. and air traffic returned to normal. The terrorists came to the airport by taxi and carried out the attack.
It must be known that a security weakness is out of question. The suicide bombers’ also carrying guns became an element that increases the severity of the incident. (NV/TK)
