The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Tuesday released Hüseyin Aygün, a deputy of the main opposition People's Republican Party (CHP) who was kidnapped on Sunday.
The Governor's Office in the southeastern province of Tunceli (Dersim) announced Aygün's release at 18:30. He was let free in the Aşağı Tornova village near the district of Ovacık and is currently in good health, according to reports.
Aygün is set to meet with CHP deputies waiting for him in downtown Tunceli.
Members of the PKK had kidnapped deputy Aygün on Sunday at around 19:00 while he was on his way from Ovacık to the downtown area.
The Executive Council of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) had also announced that he would have been released following the completion of relevant legal procedures, according to a news report published by the Fırat news agency at 14:00 on Tuesday. (NV/HK)
