A person trying to storm into the Israeli Embassy in Ankara has been shot in the leg and stopped by security staff. The attacker had a knife in his hand, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Doğan News Agency reported that the attacker said in his first testimony, “I did it to stop the bloodshed in the Middle East”.
Examination has begun on a bag that reportedly belonged to the attacker.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Emmanuel Nahshon announced that all embassy staff were safe.
Following the incident, special operation forces were dispatched to the scene and the roads leading to the embassy closed off. (HK/TK)
