Since January 26, 2021, the Health Ministry of Turkey has been sharing the number of COVID-19 vaccines administered across the country on a provisional basis with a regularly updated map.
According to the data shared by the Ministry, as of 22.29 p.m. on June 13, 461 thousand 901 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, either that of Sinovac or Pfizer-BioNTech, were administered in Turkey in 24 hours.
While the number of people who received the first dose was 20 million 70 thousand 955 in total, the number of people who received both doses was 13 million 700 thousand 712 in total. The total number of vaccine doses administered thus far was 33 million 771 thousand 667.
The vaccination numbers in the 3 metropolitan cities were as follows:
* İstanbul - The number of first doses: 3 million 512 thousand 481; the number of second doses: 2 million 236 thousand 933; the total number of vaccine doses administered so far: 5 million 749 thousand 414
* Ankara - The number of first doses: 1 million 702 thousand 674; the number of second doses: 1 million 150 thousand 77; the total number of vaccine doses administered so far: 2 million 852 thousand 751
* İzmir - The number of first doses: 1 million 358 thousand 599; the number of second doses: 939 thousand 978; the total number of vaccine doses administered in the city so far: 2 million 298 thousand 577

Vaccination for 40+ citizens
Turkey has lowered the vaccine eligibility age to 40, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced on Sunday (June 13).
"If you are 40 or older, you can make an appointment as of this morning. We expect 100 percent participation," Fahrettin Koca wrote on Twitter.
Vaccination began in Turkey on January 13
The first COVID-19 vaccine was administered in Turkey on January 13, 2021 and Health Minister Fahrettin Koca was the first person to receive the vaccine in Turkey. To date, Turkey has been giving the Sinovac and BioNTech jabs, and signed an agreement for the Sputnik V vaccine.
Over 2 billion doses in the world
According to the figures shared by the World Health Organization (WHO), 2 billion 156 million 550 thousand 767 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered across the world as of June 9, 2021.
