President Erdoğan's job approval stands at 47 percent while his party's voting share is 30 percenty without undecided voters being distributed.

Opinion poll: Support for AKP lower among first-time voters

The ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) advantage over its rivals is significantly lower among young voters, according to a new survey by Metropoll company.

The AKP's voting share was 30.9 percent without the undecided voters being distributed to the parties. It gets 22.3 percent of the votes among those who are aged between 18 and 14 and didn't cast a vote in the 2018 election due to either ineligibility or another reason.

The main opposition Republican People's Party gets 19.6 percent of the votes and its support among the youth is 19.9 percent, according to the survey.

In terms of alliances, the People's Alliance of the AKP and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) gets a total of 36.4 percent of the votes while the CHP and the İYİ (Good) Party's Nation's Alliance has a voting share of 30.5 percent.

The total percentage of the undecided and protesting voters and those who didn't answer the question was 19.5. The participation rate in the 2018 election was 86 percent.

Erdoğan's job approval

President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's job approval has slightly increased in the last two months, according to the survey results.

In June 47.1 percent of the respondents said they approve of Erdoğan while 48.6 percent said they don't approve of the president.

After the start of the coronavirus outbreak in Turkey in March 2020, Erdoğan's approval rate jumped to 55.8 percent. It was 44.5 percent in April 2021.
