A simultaneous operation was launched against the members and executives of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in six cities on October 6.
The Ministry of Interior released the following statement about the operation:
"In the operations that were conducted in Batman, 8 people, including the Batman Provincial Chair of the HDP Nizamettin Toğuç, have been detained; in Ağrı, 25 people have been detained; in Ankara, 5 people; In Muş, 1 person; in Mardin, 1 person; and in Şanlıurfa 9 people have been detained. Thus, in operations that have been launched against the PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers' Party/ Kurdish Communities Union) terrorist organization over the last two days, a total of 137 people have been taken into custody."
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency, a confidentiality order has been issued for the case files of the detained and they have been banned from consulting their attorneys.
House of Sarısülük family raided, writer Demirer detained
As part of the operation, writer Temel Demirer has also been taken into custody in a house raid conducted by the police.
Demirer, who has been detained in İstanbul, will be taken to Ankara.
The police also raided the house of the family of Ethem Sarısülük, who was shot to death by the police in the district of Kızılay in Ankara during Gezi resistance in 2013.
The officers searched the house and said that they were looking for Mustafa Sarısülük, who has been living in Europe. (EKN/SD)
