In the 510th week of the "F Session" protests on Saturday (January 1), the Prisons Commission of the Human Rights Association (İHD) İstanbul Branch demanded that ill prisoner Civan Boltan, who is currently held in the Bolu Type F Closed Prison, be released from prison.
Addressing the public at the press conference held at the İHD İstanbul Branch, Mehmet Tacettin from the İHD Ill Prisoners Commission recalled that seven prisoners lost their lives in prisons in the past month, warning that prisoners' mental and physical health is constantly under threat.
Giving information about the condition of ill prisoner Civan Boltan, Tacettin said, "Severely wounded in a bomb explosion during a conflict and taken into custody while he was wounded, his right eye went completely blind and his left eye lost its vision by 80 percent on the grounds that his treatment was prevented as he was taken to interrogation rather than a hospital".
As informed by Tacettin, Boltan also lost his right arm during the incident and he now has a shrapnel piece in his brain. The shrapnel piece reportedly cannot be removed due to the high life threat.
According to Mehmet Tacettin, the physicians treating Civan Boltan, who also suffers from the Raynaud Syndrome and other disorders affiliated with this disease, gave a report indicating that he could not stay in prison; however, the Forensic Medicine Institution has given a report saying that he can stay in prison and his release has been prevented by this report.
