More than 10 percent of the new coronavirus cases in Turkey's crowded cities are the omicron variant of the virus, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said on Saturday (December 25).
This situation has made Covid-19 booster shots even more important, the minister said on Twitter, calling on people who were jabbed more than three months ago to get their booster shots.
Koca did not explain in which cities the new variant spreads the most.
Turkey reported the first case of the omicron variant on December 12.
"We'll continue our lives with masks, social distancing and vaccines. As always, we'll stay away from crowded places and environments with limited ventilation," he wrote. (RT/VK)
