Musician Ferhat Tunç has released a music video for his song "Come and Find me Mother in June" on the occasion of the 6th year of Gezi resistance.
Starting with quiet and peaceful scenes from the Gezi Park in Taksim, İstanbul, the video continues with images showing how the trees were uprooted and how the police attacked the protestors, which is accompanied by other scenes from the resistance.
At the end of the video, the ones who lost their lives during Gezi Park protests in 2013 as well as their families are also shown.
The song "Come and Find me Mother", or Anne Beni Haziran'da Bul in Turkish, was released in Tunç's album "Kobani" that came out in 2016.
The music video, which also has English subtitles, was shared by Ferhat Tunç on his Youtube account today (May 27).
Tunç: I want to refresh our memories in the 6th year
Ferhat Tunç has commented on his video as follows:
"The AKP [ruling Justice and Development Party] has still not overcome the shock that it encountered in the face of this traumatic reaction.
"The cutting of trees, the plundering of a green space was, in itself, a vandalism that should not be accepted.
"The resistance which started as a reaction to this vandalism raised hopes with demands for freedom and democracy.
"In the sixth anniversary of this absolutely right and legitimate resistance, I wanted there to be a work that would refresh the memories.
"I devote my work to the young people who lost their lives in this resistance and their families who suffered for them." (EKN/SD)
