Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak has commented on the current account balance figures for June 2019 announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) today (August 9).
Posting a message on his Twitter account, Albayrak has said, "Despite the historic exchange attacks, we have exceeded our targets in balancing process. We have come out of turbulence; decreasing the economic bubble in import and increasing export, we have posted 12-month current surplus for the first time in 17-year AK Party rule."

Albayrak has also indicated that they aim to render this success in current surplus permanent by realizing the necessary transformations for an economy based on value added production and export. "We will take all the necessary steps for a healthy and sustainable growth and will reach the desired level in economy," Albayrak has indicated further.
Current balance posted 548 million dollar deficit
According to the current account balance figures announced by the Central Bank, the current account deficit, which was 2 billion, 471 million dollars in June 2018, has decreased to 548 million dollars in June 2019. As a result, Turkey's 12-month rolling surplus has totald 538 million dollars. (HA/SD)
