The results of the presidential elections of İstanbul Bar Association have been announced late Sunday (October 23).
According to the final counts, Mehmet Durakoğlu from the “Principles First - Contemporary Lawyers Group” won the presidential elections of İstanbul Bar Association.
Getting 13,019 votes out of 23,091-2 votes in total, Durakoğlu became the president with 54.42% of the votes.
Durakoğlu was the Vice-President of Istanbul Bar Association between 2010-2012 and 2012-2014. (EKN/DG)
About Mehmet Durakoğlu
He was born in 1956 in Sivas, Turkey. He graduated from Ankara Atatürk High School followed by a bachelor’s degree at Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1982. He started to work as a legal practitioner in 1986. He gave lectures in certificate programs on Foreign Trade. He has published articles on Foreign Trade. He was the member of the Executive Committee of Human Rights Center in Istanbul Bar Association. Having been in the position of an active member of Board of Directors of Istanbul Bar Association in 2004, he was assigned as the Vice-President of the Bar in 2006. He was the Vice-President of Istanbul Bar Association between 2010-2012 and 2012-2014. He served as a member in Association of Contemporary Living (ÇYDD) along with being an active member of Social Democracy Foundation (SODEV) and Turkish Social Economic and Political Research Foundation (TÜSES).
