According to data based on reports in local and national newspapers and news agencies, a compilation made by bianet revealed that male perpetrators left 11 women and 1 man killed, 11 raped, 20 women and 1 infant injured and 2 harassed in April 2013.
While a woman was murdered despite court restraint order, another was killed albeit complaint to police station.
Two women have been reported battered during their protection orders. Another woman was battered severely by her husband as she went out from the police station. A husband battered his wife after 4 months of prison due to domestic violence.
In 2013 so far, male violence left 26 women, 4 men and 3 children killed, 22 women raped, 40 women and 1 infant battered and 17 sexually harassed.
In 2012, male violence left 165 women, 14 children, 3 infants and 15 men killed, 150 women raped, 210 battered and 137 sexually harassed.
1 February
Rape
* In Muğla province, S.D. and his male friends M.D., K.Ç. and M.C.S. raped S.D.’s lover A.Y. (22) in an apartment. While two suspects were arrested, two were released pending a trial.
* In Samsun province, N.A. (42) was detained for the suspicion of raping C.C. (17) and S.A. In their complaint, C.C. and S.A. wrote that N.A. and his friend raped them at the workplace after driving by car. N.A. was transferred to a court. Police is seeking the other suspect.
2 February

* In Konya province, G.M. (30) assaulted his wife N.M. (29) with a knife as she filed a domestic violence complaint at the police station.
Retaliation to male violence
* In Aksaray province, E.G. (24) murdered his sister’s husband Soner Yazıcı (33) with a rifle, saying that he was beating his sister.
3 February
Murder
* In Samsun province, B.A. murdered his divorce-seeking wife Damla Ay with a pistol in her mother’s apartment. It turned out that a court issued a restraint order on B.A. due to domestic violence. Following the incident, B.A. surrendered to the police. Two weeks before the incident, B.A. was detained upon Damla Ay’s complaint and received a restraint order of two months. Released briefly after the detention, B.A. reportedly sold his belonging in order to purchase the pistol.
4 February

* In İzmir province, B.A. (44) murdered his ex-wife Fatma Aykanlı (28) and her current lover Mehmet Güzel (51) with a pistol.
Rape
* In Antalya province, M.B. (22) attempted to rape M.B. (22) by handcuffing in his office. He also injured the resisting woman with a fork. While the woman filed a complaint, a court released M.B. pending a trial.
* In Antalya province, Ö.T. was captured as he was attempting to leave the country with H.T., a woman whom he abducted and forced to prostitution for the past two months. Despite the woman’s complaint, Ö.T. was released due to lack of evidence.
5 February
Murder
* In İstanbul province, R.D. (46) murdered his unmarried living partner İrem Kahya (44) with a knife in their apartment. Following the incident, R.D. surrendered to the police.
* In Adıyaman province, M.Ş.Ö. (19) murdered his lover Aynur Zeliha Çakılkaya (19) with a knife. M.Ş.Ö. surrendered to the police after Çakılkaya’s body was found.

* In Çanakkale province, H.A. (45) murdered his ex-wife and 2 year old son with a rifle and committed suicide.
Rape
* In Ankara province, police captured a rape suspect who had the nickname Nuri Alço, a famous rapist movie character of 1980s. It turned out that the suspect ordered “secretary wanted” ads on various newspapers and raped the candidates after putting sleeping pills in their drink.

* In Aksaray province, M.A.K. (52) raped a 25 year old woman after abducting her in his apartment. A court arrested M.A.K. upon the woman’s complaint.
* In Zonguldak province, M.A. (38) raped his neighbor A.K. (33) after convincing her to get into his car and driving her to the woods. M.A. has done so by consistently accusing her of going between him and his wife. M.A. reportedly recorded the rape scene with his cell phone and blackmailed her. A court arrested M.A. upon the woman’s complaint.

* In İstanbul province, soccer player Ö.H. assaulted his lover C.H. who later on filed a complaint.
* In Trabzon province, M.U. (33) assaulted his divorce-seeking wife Ö.U. (33). The woman filed a request for protection.

* In Mugla province, a man battered a woman at a bar exit. While their identities are yet to be detected, surveillance cameras recorded the scene.
Rape
* In Bursa province, İ.A. (29) attempted to rape O.B. (16) at a bus station. Security guards captured the suspect and handed to the police after detecting the incident through security cameras. A court arrested İ.A.
11 February

* In İzmir province, Y.P. (27) assaulted his lover S.A. (24) with a knife as they were driving back home. During the incident, Y.P. lost his control and had a traffic accident. While the woman attempted to run away, Y.P. reportedly chased her with a knife. He also also assaulted a man who tried to stop her. He was released as nobody filed a complaint.

* In Bursa province, N.Ş. (61) assaulted his wife Z.Ş. with aluminum jug. While the woman was hospitalized, police detained N.Ş.
* In Trabzon province, M.K. (37) assaulted his wife T.K. with a knife. While the woman was hospitalized, M.K. ran away.

* In İstanbul province, M.A. battered his 9 months pregnant wife B.A. and threw her out of the balcony. While the woman gave birth to her child, she also went through a surgery due to her broken leg. Police is seeking M.A.

* In İzmit province, S.M. sexually harassed A.D. (18) who responded to his ad on the newspaper for a wanted cleaning worker. Upon the woman’s complaint, police detained S.M. and transferred him to a court.

* In İstanbul province, M.T. (42) murdered his son Muhammet Tonbul (25) with a knife. It turned out that they had an argument about S.T., Muhammet Tonbul’s wife who complaint that Muhammet was beating her.

* In İzmir province, İ.O.(27) broke into the apartment of F.İ. (89) in secrecy and subjected her to violence and harassment. A court arrested İ.O. who had similar files previously.

* In Tekirdağ province, A.B. battered his 8.5 months pregnant wife B.B. (21). She filed a complaint. It turned out that the husband had a criminal record on theft and forced his wife to do the same. He reportedly resented after her decline. Police is seeking B.B.
* In Adana province, O.T. (46) assaulted his wife C.T. in their apartment. While C.T. was hospitalized, police is seeking O.T.
Rape
* In Adana province, Ö.L. battered his wife A.L. (26). He then raped her and barred her from working. The woman applied to a court and received a medical report saying that “her psychological well-being is damaged due to what she has been through”. A high criminal court released Ö.L. pending a trial. However, prosecutors charged him with “sexually assaulting a spouse” (10 years), “ill-treatment at family members, insult, threat and premeditated assault” (16.5 years). A family court ordered Ö.L. not to be in close radius of his wife’s apartment for 2 months.

* In Antalya province, A.K. (40) assaulted his ex-wife N.Y. (27) with a shotgun after breaking her into her apartment. It turned out that he married her at the age of 16 after a rape and constantly battered her throughout the marriage. N.Y. divorced him due to domestic violence and a court issued a 6 months protection order as he threatened to kill her. Following the incident, hospitalized, the woman filed a complaint on A.K.
* In Mersin province, S.M. (17) ran away from home and refuged at a women’s shelter. It turned out that she was battered and forced to marry his uncle’s son which she objected.

* In Yozgat province, O.G. assaulted his wife M.G. and their 7 month baby. While the baby was hospitalized, gendarmerie detained O.G. who was released briefly after.

* In Manisa province, Ö.D. (25) strangled his wife Merve Dağlı (18) to death. Surrendering to a police station, Ö.D. pleaded guilty.

* In İzmir province, M.A. (27) strangled his divorce-seeking wife A.A. in their apartment. It turned out that the woman previously filed a complaint to a police station and demanded protection. She also filed for divorce the day before the incident. D.A. surrendered to the police following the incident.

* In Urfa province, M.A. and his friends H.Y. and M.Ş casted a sound bombs at the apartment of M.A.’s ex-wife E.M. Police detained M.A. and his friends.
27 February
Rape
* In Alanya province, A.A.Z. and A.M.A. (18) of Romanian origin called Turkey’s 112 Emergency Line, saying that their passports were abducted 4 months and forced to prostitution ever since. It turned out that they applied to an au-pair position online. Upon the complaint, L.D.G., a woman, her husband Ö.G. and İ.K. were charged with “human trafficking, forced prostitution, assault and threat to freedom”. Suspects had previous criminal records on prostitution and drug trade.
* In Karabük province, M.G. (36) attempted to rape his neighbor D.D. (47) in her apartment. Ran away upon D.D.’s screams for help, M.G. was captured by the police and arrested by a court.
Murder
* In İstanbul province, M.A. murdered his brother’s wife Fatma Top (57) by torture. The woman’s body was found in a plastic barrel near a lake. A court arrested M.A.
* In Batman province, a middle aged woman was found dead on the side of a road.
Battery-Assault
* In İstanbul province, a man battered D.S. on the street. She was heading home.
* In Ankara province, M.Ş. assaulted his divorce-seeking and legally protected wife Ş.Ş. with a knife, leaving her injured on the leg. After his testimony at a police station, M.Ş. was released pending a trial. It turned out that the woman has been battered for 10 years and courts issued 3 protection orders previously. The assault also took place during a protection period.
* In Adana province, M.K. assaulted his religiously-wed wife G.A with a barbecue bar, leaving her with a broken arm. It turned out that the incident occurred after his prison release for domestic violence conviction. Following the incident, she cried for help, a call responded by patrolling police officers. Police transferred G.A. and her two children to ŞÖNİM. They were later on put on women’s shelter.
* In İzmir province, a petty officer from Gaziemir Technical Air Schools Headquarters battered his wife. “I am coming to kill you,” the husband allegedly shouted on the phone. Upon that, the woman asked for help from ŞÖNİM center. Escorted by police officers, ŞÖNİM officials arrived to her apartment, helped to issue a protection order from a prosecutor. They also made sure that the husband would not be let to leave the headquarters. Military authorities also confiscated the petty officer’s pistol. ŞÖNİM officials purchased plane tickets for the woman and her children for a trip back home. The woman filed for divorce through a bar association. She was also under protection.

* In Erzurum province, S.Y. (37) assaulted her husband L.Y. with a knife, saying that he previously raped her several times. L.Y. was gravely wounded. “I am fed up with this man. Please jail me,” she said. S.Y. was arrested. (BK/ÇT/BM)
