‘Licence of Cafe with Lion in Cage Cancelled’

A lion, crocodile, flamingo and parrot being kept in captivity in a cafe called "Mevzoo" in Beykoz, İstanbul previously sparked reaction in social media.

The Animal Rights Federation of Turkey (HAYTAP) announced that the licence of the cafe has been cancelled by the İstanbul Governorship after the application of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs.

The federation made the following statement on its Twitter account:

"As of this moment, the licence of the cafe with lions has been cancelled. Upon our request and the devoted application of the Ministry of Forestry, the İstanbul Governorship sent the closure letter to the cafe with lions in Beykoz-Polonezköy today (July 6).

"We extend our endless thanks to the officials of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs as well as the ones who made an effort for acting together with us. #HAYTAP"
