At 5pm yesterday the members of Confederation of Public Sector Trade Union (KESK) started a watch-duty protest in downtown Istanbul, urging attention on aggressions in Rojava and Palestine.
Action desk set up
The members of KESK opened a desk and stuck a few banners "We Hail Resistances of Rojava and Palestine", "We Hail Woman Revolution in Rojava", "Rojava People are not Alone" at Galatasaray Square located in the heart of Istanbul.
KESK activists told bianet that while some pedestrians passed by, others stopped by and exchanged a conversation - the aim of the desk set up according to protestors.
“Even only one person become conscious…”
KESK member Mürsel Fırat stated that they started to their duty in order to explain the misery of people in Rojava and Palestine, and finally bring an awareness on the issue.
“The media in Turkey is constantly exposed to people’s eyes but it is completely isolated [for telling the truth]. Media turns individuals into insensitive beings. ISIL attacked against Rojava. Similarly, Israel besieged Palestine. Every single day, dozens of people people lose their lives. We came to bring awareness on the issue,” he said.
Press release at 7pm
"If we can make one person conscious, only one person is aware of events in there, he\she will make other individuals conscious. He\she succeeded liberation of Rojava and Palestine people."
At 7pm tonight, Fırat and KESK Chairman Lami Özgen will release a press statement on the issue. (HA/YÖ/EA/GOA/BM)
