Journalists Union of Turkey (TGS) released Journo, a bimonthly magazine prepared by journalists for journalists in Turkey.
The editorial board of the magazine appeared as follows: Mustafa Kuleli (editor-in-chief), Tuğrul Eryılmaz and Esra Arsan (advisors), Sarphan Uzunoğlu (publishing coordinator),Uğur Güç (visual director).
The first issue of the magazine features stories from prominent journalists Aslı Aydıntaşbaş (Impressions from Greek Elections), Elif İnce (Interview with journalist Heather Brooke), A. Ömer Türkeş (Journalist novels), Sarphan Uzunoğlu (Bolts and nuts on digital publishing), Mehveş Evin (Sri Lanka travel piece) and TGS’s personal history with Aydın Engin and other burbs and news stories.
Defining their publication as “young, on the bright side and down to earth”, Mustafa Kuleli, Journo’s EIC, said they will focus mainly on the quality of journalism as well as its future and professional discussions.
He also added that they will rather emphasize on censorship and pressure methods on other TGS-affiliated publications.
While the magazine aims to print 2,000 copies, its online version is also available, in Turkish, at journo.tgs.org.tr. The union also added that the magazine will be sent out to media outlets with TGS-affiliated media workers. (NV/BM)
