Journalist Melike Aydın Released

Journalist Melike Aydın, a reporter for JinNews website, has been released upon her attorneys' appeal against her detention. As the the court accepted the appeal of the attorneys and ruled for her release, Aydın was released from Aliağa Şakran Women's Closed Prison last evening (January 30).

Her news cited as criminal evidence

Journalists Ruken Demir and Melike Aydın were arrested together on charge of "engaging in activities on behalf of a terrorist organization" on November 12, 2019. Their news on Ida Mountains and the protests by women's platforms were cited as criminal evidence.

The court alleged that "they engaged in activities in the name of the terrorist organization." (EMK/SD)
