An investigation was opened three years ago against Meral Akşener, the leader of the İYİ (Good) Party for membership of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is held responsible for the July 2016 coup attempt.
In his petition, Akşener said that there was no progress in the investigation until 2019, when a confidentiality order was issued on the investigation, indicating that the time the order was issued coincides with the success of the İYİ Party and the Nation's Alliance in the June 23 repeat election for İstanbul mayor.
She said that she requests her deposition to be taken and the confidentiality order to be removed for "the reason of the investigation not progressing between 2016 and 2019 to be clarified", for "rapidly and effectively finding the political wing of the FETÖ," and for the voters to be given the right information.
