The İstanbul Arts and Vocational Training Center (İSMEK) has started to receive applications for free Kurdish lessons.
On December 12, 2019, the Metropolitan Municipality of İstanbul announced that they would hire two Kurdish language instructors.
Accordingly, the ones interested in learning Kurdish can apply for the course as of today (January 15). While the İstanbulites can apply for Kurdish lessons on kursiyer.ismek.ist, the courses will be available in the districts of Esenyurt, Esenyurt-Kıraç, Şişli, Fatih and Avcılar.
A total of 135 applications will be accepted across İstanbul and the course attendees will be given A1-level Kurdish lessons.
Municipality announced it would hire Kurdish instructors
On December 12, 2019, the Metropolitan Municipality of İstanbul announced that they would hire 420 contractual employees in 44 sectors, including two Kurdish language instructors.
Accordingly, the applicants for Kurdish instruction were required to have a BA degree in Kurdish Language and Literature and be younger than 30.
It was also announced that the place of duty of the hired personnel would be determined depending on the necessity.
CHP Chair Kılıçdaroğlu announced it
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu met with the graduates of Kurdish Language and Literature in August.
Addressing the audience there, Kılıçdaroğlu announced that the İstanbul Municipality's İSMEK would start offering free Kurdish lessons and the elderly who could only speak Kurdish would be offered care service in Kurdish by the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality. (FD/SD)
