Women’s Boat to Gaza (WBG) initiative has been stopped by Israeli naval forces.
Issuing a statement on its website, the initiative said the ship was surrounded by the Israeli naval forces while it was still in international waters and that called for solidarity for the safety of 13 activist women on the ship.
While Haaretz newspaper reported that she ship was brought to Ashdod port and the people on board were “transferred to a place for proceedings”, state-run Anadolu Agency announced that two women journalists were deported and the other 11 activists are being held in Givon Prison in Israel.
Women’s Boat to Gaza had announced that they would head for Gaza on September 14. There are figures such as former US colonel Ann Wright who resigned during the Iraq invasion in 2003 and Malaysian physicist Dr. Fauziah Modh Hasan among the passengers of the ship.

What is Women’s Boat to Gaza?
Women’s Boat to Gaza initiative was started by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition that was founded in 2010.
WBG aims to carry hope and solidarity message to women in Gaza against Israeli blockade.
Canadian Boat to Gaza, Italian Freedom Flotilla Coalition, Palestine Solidarity Alliance (South Africa), ships from Norway, Spain, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia and the United States, and Humanitarian Aid Foundation (Turkey) take place in the initiative. (ÇT/TK)
