Infantry sergeant major Mete Yahşi (28) has lost his life in a clash that erupted between PKK members and security forces in province of Hakkari.
In a statement issued by the Hakkari Governorship, a soldier was wounded in the clash and taken to a hospital, and then lost his life.
A funeral was held for Yahşi in the evening hours. Hakkari Governor Cüneyit Orhan Toprak, Deputy Mayor Cüneyt Epcim, Yüksekova 3rd Infantry Division Brigadier General Metin Tokel, Chief Public Prosecutor Altuğ Kürşat Şahin, Provincial Gendarmerie Regimental Commander Brigadier General Ferdi Korkmaz, Security Director Süleyman Suvat Dilberoğlu and Yahşi's family attended the funeral, the Doğan News Agency reported.
It was stated that Yahşi's body will be sent to his hometown Samsun province by a military place following the funeral. (EA/TK)
