"Iftar Detainees" Released
Detained after attempting to break their Ramadan fasts in Gezi Park, 6 individuals have been released. While four detainees were released after their testimonies to police and prosecutors, Haluk Ağabeyoğlu and Ahmet Batal have been released after their testimony to a court.
Following their testimony to prosecutors, People’s Democratic Congress member Haluk Ağabeyoğlu and Sabancı University doctorate student Ahmet Batal stood trial. The court released the two defendants who were charged with violating “Law 2911 on Public Gatherings and Demonstrations” and “resisting to cooperate with a police officer”.
While the minor detainee has been released by police authorities, SYKP member Dilan Mehmetoğlu, Demircan Tetik and Anıl Odyakmaz have been released after their testimony to prosecutors.
Detained on Saturday after police attacked their planned “Earth’s Kitchen” activity in Taksim Gezi Park, 6 individuals including one minor has been sent to Istanbul Courthouse this morning. (AS/BM)
