Members of Human Rights Association will march to Turkey’s Parliament and submit petition signatures to authorities today to demand the liberation and elimination of obstacles for sick prisoners across Turkey.
IHD members and prisoner's families will meet today on Ankara Yuksek Street at 12pm local time and they will organize a press statement outside the assembly at 1:30pm. While the commission will resume talks in the assembly, families will stage a sit-in protest.
Talk attempts every six months
IHD Diyarbakir Branch Chairperson Raci Bilici also made a explanation about this situation: "We will support sick prisoners until they reach their freedom. We will be their voice by being together. We will share their demand with all people in Turkey and the world."
Emphasizing that the government is responsible from prisoners who lost their life in prisons, Bilici added that "these deaths are murder."
"If authorities listened to us previously, these people can be here today with us. However, the government's mentality always prefer to behave by callousness, illegality, contrary for human rights."
"We came to Ankara and spent a lot of time with authorities from the leading party and opposition party six months ago. However they didn't keep their promises and until today a lot of people lost their life in prisons."
“We will be on the road again for bringing justice, executing laws and being conscience's voice, we will bring the signatures authorities. We hope that this will be our last initiative.” (AS/GOA/BM)
