President of France, François Hollande in his statement today following summit held yesterday (March 7) between Turkey and the EU has said Turkey needs to fulfill 72 criteria for citizens of Turkey to travel to Europe without visa.
According to Hürriyet daily citing Reuters, Hollande said “In case the criteria are met, visa exemption might be realized in June. However, there are 72 of those criteria”.
As to Turkey’s membership process coming to an end, “There is still a long way to go” Hollande noted.
“Freedom of the press” emphasis by PM of Italy
Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi has drawn attention to troubles in freedom of the press in Turkey.
Renzi asking freedom of the press be addressed in the summit final declaration said, “Otherwise we will veto any agreement”. (EKN/TK)
