Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) İzmir MP Tacettin Bayır addressed a Parliamentary question to Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca and asked the number of physicians who resigned or took a leave with a medical report during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
522 doctors moved to private hospitals
Answering the Parliamentary question of the MP, Health Minister Koca has said that 2 thousand 412 doctors resigned and 522 doctors started working in private hospitals by leaving their positions in public institutions. The question as to the doctors who received a report in this period has remained unanswered on the stated ground that there is no statistical data.
In his answer to the Parliamentary question, Koca has said that "2,412 personnel resigned from their positions at the Ministry and the institutions under its umbrella, including 858 specialist physicians, 144 assistants and 1,410 physicians, in the period of March 10 to September 8."
He has also announced that 487 specialist physicians, 31 physicians and four dentists started working in private hospitals in this period. (SO/SD)
