Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) referendum campaign song in Kurdish, "Bêjin Na" (Say "No") has been been banned in Şırnak in southeastern Turkey on charge of "inciting people to hatred and hostility".
Şırnak Security Directorate has applied to Şırnak Governorship with the request that the HDP's referendum campaign song "Bêjin Na" (Say "No") be banned in Şırnak.
Şırnak Governor Ali İhsan Su has granted the application and the campaign song has been banned within the provincial borders of Şırnak.
In the petition submitted to the governorship signed by Head of the Şırnak Security Directorate Ömer Uslusoy, it has been requested that the song be banned under the State of Emergency in order to "avoid any situation endangering the public security" and argued that the lyrics of the song contradicted with the first three articles of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey and incited people to hatred and hostility.
