Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Hişyar Özsoy has submitted a parliamentary question to Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, asking how many incidents of armored vehicle crashes that caused death have been investigated in the past decade.
A total of 37 people, including children, were killed in such incidents in the mostly Kurdish-populated eastern and southeastern regions, Özsoy noted.
The last deadly incident happened on December 27, 2019, in Diyarbakır province, where Cihan Can (33) was killed after he was hit by an armored riot police vehicle.
Özsoy asked the following questions to the minister:
How many investigations have been launched into these accidents to date?
* How many security officers were arrested or fined for these accidents. If not, what are the reasons?
* What has been done to eliminate the grievances of the relatives of those who lost their lives?
* How was it concluded that Cihan Can was 50-percent culpable in the incident where he lost his life?
* What kind of measures are taken to prevent such events from happening? (RT/VK)
