Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) İstanbul deputy Ali Kenanoğlu asked a parliamentary question about Governorship of Çorum’s cafeteria which was closed due to Ramadan.
Deputy Ali Kenanoğlu awaited a reply from Sebahattin Öztürk, Minister of the Interior, related to the subject: “When I went to Çorum province on July 3 to commemorate the anniversary of Çorum Massacre (before 1980 Turkish coup d'état, nationalist Sunni Muslims killed and injured hundreds of Alevi Turks in Çorum province) and I was informed that cafeteria of Governorship of Çorum was closed.”
“After inspected by Çorum Provincial Directorate of Agriculture in April, some shortage was detected and it was decided that cafeteria should be dyed. However, dyeing was delayed until Ramadan. Cafeteria was dyed in 2 days. After the construction and repair works, cafeteria at which 500 people from different departments of government structures were having lunch hasn’t been opened in spite of all objections.”
Kenanoğlu, is waiting for these questions to be answered:
* Even though construction and repair works were over, cafeteria hasn’t been opened, yet. Why?
* If cafeteria is closed due to Ramadan, how do they understand that all public officials fast during Ramadan?
* How will they recompense of lunch meal of the public officials who don’t fast during Ramadan?
* What kind of sanctions may be imposed to Governorship of Çorum due to this arbitrary behavior? (AS/BD)
