Kemal Gün (70) has been on hunger strike at Seyit Rıza Square in Dersim for 70 days to retrieve his son’s body.
11 Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C) militants were killed in an airstrike launched by the Turkish Armed Forces on Çat region located between Dersim central district and Hozat district on November 7, 2016. One of those killed was Murat Gün aged 28.
Murat Gün’s father Kemal Gün demanding that his son’s body be delivered to him went on hunger strike on February 28.
As the hunger strike continues, following the attorneys’ applications the families were taken to the shelter that was bombed. Kemal Gün told that they found bone pieces and some clothes and that everything found there was handed to gendarmerie.
Bodies of some militants that were identified through DNA test were delivered to the families. Murat Gün’s body’s identification proceedings haven’t been completed yet.
227-TL (57 Euros) fine started to be imposed on Kemal Gün based on the Law of Misdemeanor for sitting at the square. The total amount of fine has exceeded 6,000 TL.
Kemal Gün, whose other son was killed in Dersim’s district of Geyiksuyu on April 4, 2016, wants his son to have a grave. (AS/TK)
