Former Public Chief Prosecutor and attorney Gültekin Avcı was arrested on charges of “being a member of an [illegal] organization within the investigation into the Gülen community following the coup attempt on July 15.
Avcı was taken into custody in Karabağlar district of İzmir yesterday (August 15).
About Gültekin Avcı
He is the attorney of Hidayet Karaca who was taken into custody within operations against Fethullah Gülen community, one year after the December 17-25 corruption operations. He was a columnist at Bugün daily before trustee was assigned to the newspaper.
He was born in 1969 in Balıkesir. He graduated from 9 Eylül University Faculty of Law in 1990. He came to service as a prosecutor trainee in 1991.
Between 1993 and 1997, he was on service in Konya Hadim Magistracy, between 1997-1998 in Gümüşhane Kürtün Chief Public Prosecution, between 1998-2001 in Konya Kayapınar Chief Public Prosecution, between 2001-2003 Siirt E-Type Prison for Terror Crimes and Press Prosecution and between 2003-2005 Muğla Ortanca Chief Public Prosecution.
Avcı was arrested in October 2015 within the Selam Tevhid investigation and released after nine months. (EA/DG)
